FunTastic Favors!

I hate to sound like a ungrateful jerk but I'm over my kids coming home from parties with favor bags full of little plastic toys and trinkets that end up all over the house after only being looked at or played with for a few minutes!  To be fair, these tiny plastic things can come from anywhere: vending machines, dentists, holiday parties, even schools!  But let's be honest most often these things come from the ever popular, party favor bag. I'll admit, I've given out my share of these kinds of favor bags but I've decided enough is enough.  So when my friend asked me to help her with her daughter's ice skating, birthday party I did a little brainstorming and came up with a super fun and easy idea for a favor that made the kids squeal with glee and kept the parents happy too.

 Hot Cocoa Party Cups!

What's needed:

IMG-2949.JPG

-Compostable paper cups with lid  (cute prints available at Target!)

-Compostable paper straws

-One to two individual hot coco packets per kid

--Mini marshmallows(half a cup/20 per cup)

--Other fun ideas to put in the cup:  mini candy cane, chocolate kisses, small cookies, caramels, sprinkles, mini donuts

--Clear plastic gift bags (20 for $1 at dollar store)

-- Tissue paper flower string (found at dollar store, cut off each individual flower)

--Assorted colored, easter basket paper grass

What To Do:

These are super simple.  First stuff cups with hot coco packet, marshmallows, candy cane, cookies, etc,  and lastly put on lid.  Then put the cup inside clear cellophane bag, throw in the colored paper grass to  fill in the clear bag.  Lastly  tie on the tissue paper  flower.

These turned out so well I'm going to do an adult version for teacher appreciation week.  To make it more adult I'll put in a  Starbucks instant via coffee packet with the hot chocolate  packets (everyone loves a mocha!) and also  throw in some shortbread cookies or other little fancy cookies.

And if you truly want to adult-ify this, add in a tiny bottle of Baileys to make it extra fun. ;)  I'm thinking this could work for bachelorette party, swag bags, gals getaway weekends, soccer coach appreciation (a great way to get through another soccer game!), ski trips and more!
